What is the Community Language Bank in Somerville? |
The Community Language Bank in Somerville is a web-based community resource that allows businesses and non-profit organizations to have short documents translated and meetings interpreted by multilingual Somerville residents and Tufts University students. The language bank plans to train multilingual residents and Tufts students in the skills of translation and interpretation, which in turn will help businesses and non-profit organizations to build bridges between sectors of the community often separated by language differences. The language bank is an initiative developed by the Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service at Tufts University and the Somerville Community Corporation. How can I become involved with the Community Language Bank in Somerville? |
You can become involved with the Community Language Bank in Somerville as a translator and/or interpreter if you live in Somerville, speak more than one language, and would like to be trained to translate documents and interpret at meetings. If you are interested in doing this, please contact the language bank coordinator. You can also become involved if you are a business or non-profit organization working with the Somerville community and would like to use the Community Language Bank in Somerville as a resource.
